Alvarez acoustic guitars began life in St Louis, Missouri in 1965 by master luthier Kazuo Yairi. A well known guitar brand in the States, many top players like David Crosby, Thom Yorke, Devin Townsend and Any DiFranco have proudly toted Alvarez guitars live and in the studio.
Nowadays most Alvarez guitars are made to exacting standards in China and distributed all over the world, bringing traditional building techniques, understated good looks and high quality control into the hands of players of all descriptions.
This AF60 model is a folk model with an Orchestral body size from the Alvarez Artist range. This traditional and handsome acoustic has an A+ grade solid Sitka Spruce top to ensure a strong and bright sound. Layered Mahogany is used for the back and sides. This type of body shape is excellent for fingerpicking styles and arpeggios, making it perfect for Folk music and other traditional styles.
It’s a clean and crisp look for this AF60: a subtle inlay at the 12th fret of the fingerboard and a tasteful abalone rosette combine with a unique bridge shape and Ivory coloured multi-ply binding make up the quietly good looking visuals of this understated guitar.
The guitar has a Natural Gloss finish apart from the neck which has been thoughtfully given a semi-gloss finish to support easy hand movement.
If you need a quality, affordable acoustic for fingerpicking and do not need a pickup system, this solid-topped AF60 from Alvarez is an excellent, understated choice.
