Moving between alternating picking (up and down strokes) and downstrokes allows a balanced emphasis to be put on various notes. So provide your thumb a break and get a pick!

Believe that cool basslines can’t be played with a pick? Believe again! While fingerstyle and slap methods are perfect for groove music, utilizing a choice can also be super-funky, particularly in combination with some palm-muting for that old-school vibe.
