Every guitar collection should consist of a rosewood dreadnought, and we’re pleased that Collings decided to develop an unique D-41 for Acoustic Guitar magazine. Motivated by pre-war Martins of the exact same body shape, this guitar includes Bill Collings’ normal blend of vintage specifications and contemporary accuracy. The tested mix of East Indian rosewood back and sides, a tight-grained Sitka spruce leading, and scalloped bracing makes the Collings D-41 a veritable cannon. Its appearance is stylish but not fancy, with an abalone-bound top, snowflake fingerboard inlays, a Brazilian rosewood headstock overlay, and AG’s anniversary logo inlaid at the very first fret.
In preparing our 30th anniversary instrument auction, we could believe of no much better beneficiary than the fund that bears Expense Collings’ name. 50% of every dollar raised in the auction will go straight toward supporting guitar education, and we’ll likewise donate $5 in the name of every bidder, despite the results. Bidding starts April 20. In the meantime, please take a look at the 12 terrific guitars in this collection, consisting of the custom Collings D41.
